new to forum

We are not new to sailing but have never made a long passage or sailed at night. We have a 1972 Cheoy Lee Offshore 33 ketch, berthed in Hudson, Florida. We are both still working full time. We want to take off for a week-10 days and sail up the Nature Coast to the Withlacoochee River or Cedar Key. Have been up the Homossassa where we went aground and our engine failed. Don't wish to go there again! Some time in the future we want to go to Yucatan, and visit the islands there. Would like to hear from other sailors who have sailed these routes. Regards, elsie&david

WELCOME ABOARD.
The "Nature Coast" on Florida's Gulf Coast will make a wonderful introduction to cruising (North from Pasco County ) - then off you go, further afield to another glory (the Yucatan).

Lots of shallow water up there.
The dry tortugas is a nice trip.
I did that trip in my 20's on the same boat - I wonder if it is the same boat??

Cheoy Lee Offshore 33 ketch

We purchased this yacht from a couple from Boston, last name: Towse, who owned it for 15 years. Its name has been "Dreamer" for at least 18 years.

Agree with Therapy - consider the Keys and the Dry Tortugas.

Could be if it changed names and hands.
I was last aboard in 1981 I think.
