Hello all!
I hope all is well, and everyone is off to a great start in 2021! Hailing from the northern Virginia area, we are Bryan and Gila. I (Bryan) am an aspiring sailor,
water enthusiast and adventurer, working in the tech industry. Gila is a beautiful soul that loves adventure, meeting new people and works as a nurse. We both have a five-year-old sons from previous marriages, and enjoying the challenges and adventures that brings to our daily lives. We are also both excited at what we consider to be our next adventure in
purchasing a
boat, exploring the coastal waters,
Caribbean and perhaps beyond (TBD).
Our experience is some what limited, but we’re
learning as we go! I’ve completed the
ASA 101, 103, and the OSS 101/103/104 and 114 with Steve and Doris Colgate to get me started, but thirsty to learn more from the ol’ salts, and newbies like myself. Gila is new to sailing but is smart, excited, eager to learn and most importantly humorous.
The planning phase has been going for years now - savings are sufficient,
research is on-going, knowledge is improving, and we’re now currently looking for what will be our home for durations of 6 – 12 months at a time.
If anyone would like to chat, part any wisdom, or assist us in any way in our quest to finding a vessel, please feel free to write us anytime!
All the best,
Bryan and Gila
“Don’t be afraid to try something. It never hurts as bad as you think to fail. You seldom regret what you do. You regret what you didn’t do. Don’t try to be invulnerable. Don’t worry too much about
security. If you build a wall around yourself, you become a prisoner of that wall. Take a chance!”
