New Sailor Here from New England

Have been browsing this forum for a while and finally joined yesterday...My first post here about the "What's your dream boat" topic and looking forward to staying on these forums more often as it seems to be geared to the type of sailing I aspire to do...

2012 will be first season ever of sailing and have actually never sailed in my life! Have been on a catamaran before and was amazed!

Wife and I are truly obsessed with the Ocean and I knew I eventually wanted to buy a boat, just did not know my life would persuade me to a sailboat!

Bought a classic after some research and looking at a few boats...Long story short, my boat ended up choosing me as I was approached by the previous owner prior to me choosing to inquire...Got it for the money I was willing to spend for a fixer upper, and this one is in really good shape, and not quite a fixer...Although being an loder boat from the 60's, things it needs for upkeep are inevitable and have already started to work on a few things...

Nothing major but maintenance...

Looking forward to April!!!

A couple photos from previous owner:

And a couple old school pics of the boat:

Re: New Sailor here from New England

Welcome to CF from a fellow New England Tartan owner. That's a good looking boat. If you haven't found them already, there are a lot of Northeastern Tartan owners here: Home - Tartan Owners Northeast, Inc.. They tend to be a pretty amiable group with some good resources on the older as well as newer models.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Nothing like a yawl. I really like seeing her dressed out with the mizzen staysail.
Congratulations.
kind regards,
