New sailor from Washington dc

Hi,

My name is Marie. I looked through your forum, it's very nice and friendly.)) My husband and I purchased a 28' sailboat this summer. We've been working on it and sailing it since July, trying to learn sailing as well as we could. It looks like the season is just getting started, with winds picking up and the weather being so beautiful. We'd like to find some "sailing buddies" in the area of Washington DC/Annapolis/BAltimore. We're docked on the Magothy River, and usually sail out to the Chesapeake and back for practice and fun. We're planning a three-day sailing trip to Hart-Miller possibly soon. If anyone wants to hang out, sail together, etc., please let us know.

Thumbs up

Welcome aboard, Yankee28. It's nice to log on and see so many new members here. That fact alone seems to be the reason I believe this forum the best I've ever belonged to.
Good luck with your sailing and hope to hear more from you in the future and of your progress with the learning curve!

Welcome aboard Marie and Husband,
I am sure you will fnd some sailing buddies. We sailed the Delaware River over 25 years ago. We houseboated on the Ches. around St. Michaels, MD before that. Beautiful areas, I am sure you will enjoy the sailing in your area. Every day a person sails they learn something new. This is a great forum to learn even more.

Just returned from sailing. ., tried to take some pictures from the dinghy, filled 2 GB sd card, then, when I gave the camera to my husband, while trying to get on board, we dropped into the water((((

Hi Marie and hubby,
We're unfortunately a bit far away to catch up but wish you welcome and good luck in linking up with local sailors.

Aloha Yankee,
Sorry about the photos and camera. I've lost many glasses, tools, boat gear, hats, etc. etc. Anything digital or electronic likes to find its way into the saltwater. Many of our clubmembers have lost cell phones and cameras just by dipping them.

Not much wind this weekend, but you got out. I had repairs to do, managed to get reverse working again on the stbd. engine. That was fun a few weekends back lost the propeller on the port side and reverse decided to give up on the stbd side. all at the same time. But I am ready to go now, Yankee 28. We are down by Thomas Point light area , we sometime head up toward the bridge. If you see a big cat it may be ME.......

I might need a hand some weekend sailing when my CEO (wife) is traveling. If you may be interested drop me a p.m.

Well you have that part right. Fall sailing is about to bust loose on the Bay! October always has been my favorite time.
