New Sailor

Hello everyone. I've recently been bit by the sailing bug and after some reading I find the idea of cruising to be very interesting. I've been on quite a few boats for recreation but have never been on a sailboat so I'm starting with a clean slate. I quickly realized I have a LOT of learning to do.

Can I get some recommendations on beginner sailing books and what a good sailboat would be to start out with?...or anything else a beginner might need to know.

I live in the Northern VA area so access to boats and the coastline is pretty easy.

Thanks

Gene

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Gene.

You can review (free) “Sailing for Dummies” online

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Believe it or not we've all been "in the same boat." Gotta start somewhere, eh?
I recommend "Start Sailing Right!" to get you off in the right direction.
kind regards,
