I've been hanging rags for a long time. But, recently have been considering the "dark side" especially fuel efficient trawlers. And, I'm very interested in new battery technology and electric motor hybrids for boaters.

Welcome to Cruisers Forum.

It's OK to contemplate going over to the "dark side". We even have some motor boaters as members. Try using this custom search engine to find some threads in our archives that interest you: Cruisers & Sailing Forum

Here are a couple for starters:

Aloha Hmsindy,
Welcome aboard! I like Bristol boats. Fuel costs are going higher. I don't know if I'd switch quite yet.
Kind regards,

Welcome Hmsindy,
I can not even think of engines. Engines and I just do not mix. I contemplate oars or poles to move my sailboat. At the moment my engine needs to be diagnosed. With a pole I can tell if it is not long enough or broke. I wish you fair winds.
