new member from Victoria Canada
Hi All! I have been boating off and on for 25 years up in this corner of the world.
One reason I joined is due to a thread recently about the Pacific 30 sailboat. I bought one of these beauties 25 yrs ago and completely rebuilt her and then my wife and I moved aboard and lived on her for 6 yrs. We have recently moved onto a 37 ft sailing sloop.
The Pacific 30 sailboat is a Ray Richards design built before his famous Haida 26. Some were built just outside Victoria, B.C. as complete boats and many were sold as kits at various levels of completion. The basic hulls and structures seem to be of good quality( from the 10 or so I have seen) although the interiors go from little to nicely finished.
They are a fun boat to sail single handed and handle wind well. They are attractive boats and the room inside is surprising for a 30 footer.
There is some technical data at www.saiboatdata.com . Hope this helps John

Hello from further up the road, I live in Qualicum Beach and my boat is moored in Comox, we are fortunate to have the incredible cruising grounds we have been blessed with. Where in Victoria are you moored? The boat I purchased was housed in Canoe Cove for roughly 37 years before moving up here.

Re: new member from Victoria Canada
Hi John, I’m new here myself. Not as far north as Qualicum Beach either, I’m in Cowichan Bay. I am posting because long ago I finished a couple of Pacific 30’s and am currently (40 odd years later) moored on the next dock to one of them. It is now owned by the son of the now good friend that I finished her for.
Small world.

Welcome Aboard. What's the new 37'er?
Any winter cruising plans, or are you hunkering down?

Re: new member from Victoria Canada
I moved our boat here in Sept. 2016 from San Francisco, sailed up. Two sailing seasons and our third winter. No snow, yet...

Hi Stu,
Do you remember by any chance a Nonsuch 30 that was for sale at Maple Bay Marina this time last year? It was on the outside at the south end of the float that has the fuel dock.
I bought it in May and it’s now in Cow Bay. Maybe I’ll see you around next summer.
Paul

Re: new member from Victoria Canada
Greetings to all, just bought a alberg 37 that's moored in Maple bay. I would love to meet other sailers to go out day sailing and log some time getting comfortable. Fairly new to sailing and the area. Peter
