Hello All, short background is that I raced sailboats from the time I was 12 until second child 20 years ago. All sorts of one designs in Barnaget Bay, NJ. Lightnings, M Scows, E scows, stars, etc. Finally as our last son is finishing college next year we are looking forward to getting back to sailing. Wife (Cheryl) and I are presently looking for a boat to cruise with. We started looking at mono hulls, but now seem to be leaning towards a cat as they offer more living space, and a rear deck for happy hour... And I am all about the happy hour!!

We looked at a Lagoon 45 & 50, as well as, a Prout 45 & 50 a week ago and were really impressed with the Prout. Anyone have any opinions positive or negative? Looking to keep the boat up north in the summer months, down south and into the keys and islands winter months once I get more comforatble being on the water again and learning all the new radar... I use to teach US Coast Guard AUX basic sailing and chart navigation classess,, what a change over the years....

Wow....sounds like some very spacious choices...I have no experience with them but given their length I think they would be Extra Happy hour suitable.
Welcome to the forum Bob.

Welcome, mayor bob. Good to have you here!

There are a quite a few threads with references to Prout catamarans in our archives. Try the Google search feature in the small "Search" pull-down menu in the upper right on the page. Of course, feel free to ask questions, too.
