Hi,

Recently joined the Cruiser forum, even if I'm not a full-time cruiser
Several times when googling on certain topics got a link to this forum, hence thought it would be st to just join!

Sail mostly shorthanded/solo every now and then with some friends. Mostly coastal hopping (UK, France, Belgium) from the Netherlands.

My boat (named: WOOHOOO! (incl the exclamation mark ) is not really a cruiser, yet it works quite well for cruising too: with almost no wind there is still sail power, as the boat is extremely light and has a huge sail area. (which also means that when there is a lot of wind it quickly needs to be reefed ): it is a Beneteau First Class Europe, sailed with a-symmetric spinnakers (as solo on these boats that actually need 6 people in the rails spi is not an easy thing with anything more then a light breeze..).
As a result the engine is hardly used for anything more then just harbour in / harbour out. Which is great.

Based in the Netherlands at the former Zuiderzee, which unfortunately has become a (big) lake as it was decided many years ago that a dam was needed around it, hence it is no longer salt water (which to me is a petty).

Either way hope to meet more people long sailing trips in the countries I regularly visit

Happy sailing!
Aernoudt

Re: New member

Welcome -- most of our cruises are 4-6 hours long (the average attention span of the grandkids), so most of the cruising is vicarious... but we dream along nonetheless...

Welcome Aernoudt, loving to read sailing enjoyment.
Thanks Boatman61, whew, just qualified. Although a broken trailer and nonseaworthy rigging, qualified. Even +1 with an icebox.

All you all many lovely tunes with wind.
