Howdy all. My Name is Chris and just joined these fine forums. I am new to the boating world, but I am jumping in with both feet. I live in Crestview Florida. With my thinking (which can be very scary ), I feel I should know my vessel inside and out. So I figured the best way for me to know it inside and out, I am building my own. I have got plans for a 30' Dory cabin cruser. Just wanted to say hi and let you know what kind of nut you now have on your hands

I share your belief that we should know our boats inside and out.
Can’t wait to see the pictures once you start constructing her.

I will post them pics as things happen. It is going to be a slow process for me, like so many of us, the $$$'s are very tight, but if I keep waiting for the dollars to get better, I will never build her. So, I will build her a little bit at a time.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
That's a good way to learn your boat but now is a buyer's market and you'll pay more eventually by building your own and you won't be able to get out on the water soon. Just a thought.

Thanks John. Your right, it is a buyers market, but there are a couple of draw backs with buying something premade. I can't shell out that kind of cash at one time, building it myself allows me to purchase what I can when I can. I won't know be able to know a purshed boat inside and out like I would one I build. It wouldn't be unique like what I build. Then it also takes away the joy at the end of me being able to say Yea I built this, with my own two hands.
