New guy from San Diego
Hello everybody. First time posting on the forum. I am here to primarily to learn. I will try my best not to ask any questions that have been asked thousands of times already. I can work the search feature pretty well. Just looking to read up on some interesting topics in preparation for a possible sailboat purchase (no time soon).
So, drinks on me.

Well, we have you covered with all the prior postings there is a wealth of things to read. If you read a few thousand posts you might just get the right idea. If you write a few thousand it will take longer.

Hmm ... not today I guess. Not what I would expect from a Virginian.

Welcome aboard. I search once in a while but predominantly I post again. Most people are pretty nice about it and within minutes and "old salt" will usually post a link to an old thread if there is one.

Aloha Flyer,
I used to sail out of Coronado many years ago when I lived in Chula Vista and stationed at 32nd St. and Coronado. You probably were at North Island? Welcome aboard!! Good to have you here. Ask away!! We'll let you know when you get on our nerves. : )
Kind Regards,

Welcome aboard. Remember, there are no silly questions, only silly answers.

Yes John , North Island. When I left the navy, the folks back in Mass asked, "So when are you coming back this way?"
I said, "Oh, you mean to visit?"
I lived in Coronado for a short time. Very nice.
Thanks for chiming in. I won't be doing much posting for a while. Just soaking it in.

Yup welcome also and trust you''ll enjoy the site.
But remember there's usually more than one answer to most things, and some sailors do like a little bit of a 'discussion' - so you are sure to get differing views on most things boating:-)
Cheers

Welcome aboard, sir.
I take it from your name, you be a pilot. Right on. I never flew 'em, just jumped 'em... I like Skipr was once a San Diego salt, though I didn't sail much then, just surfed some of the best waves in the world. (when Tijuana wasn't dumping their sewage into the N. current) I have found there are lots of us Vets on this forum, and welcome you aboard. Hope to hear more from S.D.!

Thanks Bear. Yes, former navy helicopter pilot, now flying for San Diego Sheriff. Pretty cool job but I won't have any problem leaving it when the time has come. I am really looking to get my feet wet with the cruising lifestyle. It would seem to fit my personality, just not my current lifestyle. But that will be changing in a few years when the kids get older.
Until then, I am a knowledge sponge.
Cheers,
Scott

" bad boys, bad boys...what you gonna do..."
i bet you get that alot, eh? hehe
funny you mention that lifestyle change thing. when i was in the Army all i could think about was getting out in the bluewater life and relaxing, all those thoughts going through my head at 22,000asl/oxygen assisted. (of course) made it real tough to soldier out my last enlistment, but i made it!
the time between gave me a chance to learn as much as i could and actually buy a boat. the time with the Rangers gave me the patience to see the dream fulfilled.
i know yours will come true too.
good luck and here's to ya!
