Re: Need pros and cons of Cal Cruising 46

Welcome to the cal family

I have the hull 5 cal curing 46 now for 14 years and love every minute of it

All I do I surf the web and look at other boats night and day. And each day I’m more and more convinced I got the right boat

Of course it only took me 17 years to find the boat that met my requirements

Where did you find the hull number, somewhere on the boat? We've not determined which hull we have.

Re: Need pros and cons of Cal Cruising 46

It was mentioned on the official marine surveyor report

And I was told by the previous owner that I have hull 5

Do you have the original cal cruising? Or the modified bu same hull 2-46 or 3-46 version?

Re: Need pros and cons of Cal Cruising 46

We have owned a Cal 2-46 since 2014. She was sailed to NZ by a lovely Swiss couple. The hull had osmosis so we 100% stripped it back and glassed over. We removed the 8kwh diesel generator and used the space for a water maker. Plus a 100% renovate and renew right through. Rigging. sails. wiring. Plumbing. thru hulls. Hatches. Pretty much a new boat now.Not a cheap exercise but well worth the effort. We spent winter 2017 in Tonga. She is a perfect offshore live aboard. And the massive engine room/ workshop is a godsend.
We would be confident to sail her anywhere.

Re: Need pros and cons of Cal Cruising 46

My wife and I just picked up a Cal 3-46. The batteries are flat. Where are the battery boxes located on this boat? The one battery in the engine room is for the generator. I would hate to think they are under the floor boards. help!

Our start battery is under the cupboards in the access way to the aft cabin. The engine room battery box has four six volt batteries under the work bench.
