Mountain Sailors

Hi guys,

New to sailing and the forum. My wife and I just had our second sailing lesson at 5000 feet just outside of Denver Colorado. We're having a great time on the water with the wind and the sails. Hope to learn a lot from reading and contributing to this forum.

Re: Mountain sailors

Mountain sailing is great... I've sailed both Cherry Creek reservoir and a bit higher up in Grand Lake and Lake Granby.

Get yourself a nice trailerable and start exploring those high country lakes!!!

Re: Mountain Sailors

I love sailing in Utah , but learn to read the weather well. It comes fast and can do slot of damage quickly . Other than developing this slight paranoia , you'll be just like any other sailor .
Have fun.

Re: Mountain Sailors

Welcome aboard! We have a boat at Heron Lake, New Mexico, just outside Colorado and have sailed at Dillon and visited folks at Carter Lake. The higher altitude you go, the quicker the weather seems to be able to change. You might want to check out the folks in the Rocky Mountain Sailing association (rmsail.org), which is a sort of coordinating group for yacht and sailing clubs, one design fleets, and other sailing groups in the Rockies.
