John,
Thanks for the reply.
We sail in numerous lakes within an 1.5 hr dirve from Boise. Some in the desert, some in the mountains.
SISA, Southern Idaho Sailing Ass. has be in operation for 25+ years. It is orginized around
racing, but is obviously a social event and meant to promote sailing. We think
learning to
race is one of the best ways to learn all points of sail in all kinds of
wind. That way when one goes to the ocean, cruisiing other lakes etc. one know what to do. It has certainly worked for myself and wife, Barbara.
We have hoasted the National
Catalina 22's and 25's regattaa before and numerous
Hobie cat regionals. We have been told we run excellant races and have good sailors, because we often sail in fluky winds. Especially up in the mountain.s
Barb and I are now beginning to reduce
racing. A lot of that has to do with my physical conditions, cervical and low back surgies, and are headed into more cruising.
Have had some real nice custom
work done on our
boat to enhance that. Later we will buy a
Catalina 34 to lounge in.
So, that is probably more info than you wanted.
