New here, one post (or two) already. First time buyer, have not decided on a sailboat, motor cruiser - or just continue reading the books I've read by people over the 35 years who have done it.

Thinking of a sail or motor 40-50 footer, live aboard, offshore capable. Not in any hurry, but somewhat determined. Offshore, as in passages will probably few. Offshore as sortes out into the open sea might be frequent.

Thinking of aluminum or steel, probably a mono hull.
