Greetings. Been lurking about here for a quite some time. Decided I should get an account going as I progress closer to the reality of ownership. I'm rather new to sailing, but I'm getting my time in where I can, with who I can, provided the weather is willing. The PNW seems to sometimes not play along with when I can get out for some learning.

I've actually considered this, most of my experience is small stuff on lakes and the occasional river, the sea is a different animal entirely... But I get up to the San Juans when I can, just wish there was closer spots. As it stands I've been told I've I can learn to handle the stuff local to me, most everything else will be a sinch, the bars at the ports near me, are notoriously tricky, as is the weather.

Yeah I think learning on the Oregon coast will render just about every other place you go warm, tropical and placid.
