Looking for someone to sail a 48 foot Trimaran from PNW to San Diego

Hello Cruisers,

I am new to this forum and I am hoping to purchase a 26 foot wide X 48 foot long Trimaran. Trying to get a feel for what it would cost for someone to sail her (after I purchase) from the Seattle area to San Diego. Ultimately, she would go to Mazatlan, Mexico.

I don’t know anything about sailing and I would be learning after she gets into Mexico. Any tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to private message me.

Hi Joe...welcome to the forum. That's a long passage with a few hazarded. The two really tough ones are the Columbia River mouth and Point Conception. Weather windows can be short and a lot of planning needs to take place. Make sure you get a full survey for sea worthiness before you lay out the cash.

That is the Pacific coast of the US. I have had at least 14 keel boats and the only catamarans I had were Hobie 14, 16, and 21. I planned on sailing this down to Baja but only with an experienced captain who has done it several times. Problems are that there are very few safe inlets it seems. And yes, the weather window is important. I would be very reluctant to sail a cat or tri down this coast. It would be interesting on hearing other more knowledgable persons. If a tri goes over, will it float upside down? My Hobies did but they were fully enclosed.

Planned on sailing, not cats but a full length keel boat with good reputation.

Hi Joel,
Tell us a about the boat. What make of tri is it? 26' beam seems a bit narrow for a 48' tri.
