I got to ride on the committee boat for the local club's beer can race last week. It is amazing how the committee chair can keep all of the information and boats straight. He had us dropping the buoys, synchronizing stopwatches, flying flags, sounding horns, and recording stats. It's almost a sport unto itself. Sometimes he'll send people off the committee boat to help crew if the racers need help. They put on a good social afterwards too.
