Life Is What You Make Of It ;)
Hello everyone...
Definitely enjoyed reading over this forum. My name is Noah. At one time I used to own a 1947 Chris Craft custom sedan 22' runabout, (see pics below).
I am looking to trade up my Harley and get into a 27 to 33 foot cruiser sail boat for living aboard. What a way to travel and meet people!
Currently, I am a vacuum truck operator on a drilling rig (oil) in northern Alberta, Canada... it sucks (bad pun) but its a living... i work for sometimes 60 plus days before I come home to see my girlfriend... Its time for a change.
I would like to find the right cruiser and set sail around North America from Vancouver Island along the California coast, surf in Costa Rica before discovering the Caribbean (via the Panama Canal)...

Thank you for having me to your forum... here's some pics of my last boat, "Thor". I had her for 3 summers was the 3rd owner and sold her for what I paid for her... but you don't own a wooden boat... they own you!

Welcome to CF NoDogue, and working in the oil patch isn't a bad gig, it allows extended periods of time to get your next boat ready for the cruising lifestyle. Your old boat is a classic beauty. What is your price range for a good, blue water cruiser? I also worked in the patch in a different position, my last rig.....

Nice office deckofficer...
My price range is between 10 and 20... i have found a few like this... Blue Moon, A 1977 C&C 29 MK I Masthead sloop for sale.
...and am not in a rush to buy, the right boat will come

I work a small super single land rig.. Champion #1

in the winter... its all ice roads over muskeg and -60°C weather

and after shift... retire to camp... where the living space is as small as 14' aluminum boat...

its time to take some of that oil money and live aboard

Thank you I have taken tons of photos (been on all kinds of land rigs) and anticipate uploading lots of sailing pics in the future Maybe Discovery channel would like to follow me around in a sailboat

My position wouldn't exist in the same function on your rig... I get rid of the drilling waste. It involves sucking the cuttings and mud up (Manual Labor is not just the president of Mexico) in a vac truck and spreading it on a field.
We're moving into Spring weather here and that means road bans are coming into effect... no work until after the bans are lifted... its boat hunting season

Good luck on your boat search. My duties are that of 1st Mate, deck surveys, stability calculations and reports, transfer of all bulks and liquids, i.e. bentonite, barite, cement, diesel, potable water, drilling mud, deck and derrick loading, etc. Ballast tanks for vessel stability, conduct drills, soundings, cargo ops, just the basic stuff aboard ships but on a drill rig.
