Late intro

First, an apology for jumping into a discussion without introducing myself.

I have always loved the ocean, probably because my mother was a war bride and although born in Canada I was across the Atlantic 6 times by the time I was seven. Early memories.

I finally bought a 26' thunderbird about 30 years ago never having sailed for one minute - ah, the courage (folly!) of youth. It was a wonderful boat to learn on, and as I was living on Vancouver Island I had a fantastic place to learn the ropes. I kept her for 8 years, then the pressures (and joys) of work and raising a family meant it was time to move on.

For the last few years I have been chartering, moving up in size trying to decide what size (and if) of boat I will purchase when I retire in 2 -4 years.

I am very fortunate that my work keeps me connected with the ocean. I manage a few logging camps on the west coast of Vancouver Island (B.C.) and the best means of travel is by boat (flying works, but the cost is pretty prohibative for the forest industy these days). It is still a thrill to boat past Bligh Island once or twice a week.

I'll stop now before I bore everyone to death. I love reading the posts, and hope to jump in every now and then.

Welcome aboard. This is a good time to start planning for the retirement boat. Plenty of time to scope out the market before you need to buy.

Welcome aboard! I had the opportunity to sail aboard a Thunderbird in the early 80s here in Hawaii. I think they are great sailers and fast. I have seen them advertised in a few ads.
