Key West sailor
Hey everyone! I've been lurking on these boards for quite awhile and finally decided I should become part of the community.
I have been a mate and eco-tour guide for a few years with a company here that has three 65' sailing schooners. In addition, I am a member of the Key West Community Sailing Center (formerly the Key West Sailing Club). I have also made the crossing to Marina Hemingway in February 2011.
Now that I have a little experience, I am looking for a boat to call my own. You folks have wonderful knowledge and experience and I thank everyone for sharing it.

Re: Key West sailor
Welcome,
sounds like you have plenty to share as well. We could have been in the Keys, but nooooooooooooooo, I chose the Puget Sound,
yes I'm jealous, this morning anyway, as the cold rain pecks away at the hatch.

Wish I could send some of this 80+ F sunny weather your way. Blowing S 10-15 today. Going out on a friend's Twister 28 to check my stone crab traps and do some snorkeling for dinner.

Re: Key West sailor
Welcome to the forum.
Always nice to hear from someone from my home area.
Born Stock Island, raised in Marathon,
With all the changed in fishing laws down there, I have one question for you/ Is bully netting still allowed.
Hope to hear more from you.

Re: Key West sailor
Welcome to CF Serene86!
I keep my boat on Marlin Pier and am a former Sailing Club member, so we have some common friends without a doubt! I'll be on the boat around the 15th for a week or so, stop by and I'll buy you a cold beverage. PM for directions

I hate eating a few stone crabs.
I prefer a whole basketfull.
And butter.
And stone crabs. And cold beer.
And butter and stone crabs. And really cold beer.
That's just me.
Welcome. But you keep talking the place up like this, soon you'll have too many neighbors. Just sayin!

Thanks for all the welcomes!
Unicorn Dreams: Yes, Bully netting is still permitted. Only 3 more days left in the season though. Water has warmed up and bugs were everywhere yesterday. Caught my 6 plus had 10 stone crab claws that were keepers.
capngeo: We have a friday Night social every week from 5-7 and sailing races every Sunday. I'm sure folks would love to see you.
tgzzzz: Neighbors are good!

Re: Key West sailor
Come on over to Robbies on Stock Island, they have lots of boats just sitting here. Every so often they crush one up and haul it away.
