Hi All,
I just bought my first sailboat, a 1981
Pearson 28! I'm originally from
Italy, grew up in Venice but have been living an working in the US for over 20 years. Been dreaming of having my own
boat and sailing around the world since chilidhood. Early this year, before the COVID pandemic, I decided to commit to my dream by enrolling in
ASA courses before my planned summer
vacation back to
Europe. A couple months later the Pandemic completely upended my plans:
ASA classes and
Europe trip cancelled. Undeterred, I figured I would put the
money budgeted for my
family vacation into
buying a sailboat and spend the summer
learning to sail and maintain a
boat.
So after what seemed like forever researching and looking through the difficulties imposed by COVID restrictions, I closed on the
Pearson 28 a few weeks ago and sailed it down from from City Island NY, down the Jersey coast and up the Delaware River to the slip I booked for the summer season near the Philly
Airport. That, was an adventure, BTW! The Atlantic coast was really rough with 25-30kt winds...
Looking forward to input from seasoned sailors as I already have a bunch of questions...
Cheers!!
Marco
