Introduction - From Melbourne
Hi fellow members,
I've just signed on. I live in Melbourne, Australia and own a 45ft Robertson & Caine cat, which we sailed up to the central Queensland coast last year. Our boat is named Macanudo, although most of our friends just call it Big Macca. My wife and I run a publishing business, which we're about to attempt to run for a month or so while sailing. This will be interesting! We're sailing at the end of this month from Bundaberg to Mackay, which we will use as a base and commute to the boat from Melbourne. Mackay is close to the southern end of the Whitsundays.
Hopefully I'll be able to contribute in some way to the forums.

Thanks Alan. The Marlborough Sounds are beautiful, but a bit too cold at this time of year. I'm looking forward to learning and contributing.

Actually I need to come clean. When ever I make this symbol ;-) it means I am being tongue in cheek. You will get to know me better after awhile. But we have a very very strong and vibrant to say the least, multi hull group here.

G'day from Perth, welcome aboard, enjoy the Qld coast, haven't been up that way since the mid 80's, some things are probably better and some worse by now but enjoy anyway

Hi Macca, We regularly spend 4 to 6 weeks aboard our yacht in New Zealand, whilst I am running my Software Distribution Business. Mate, all you need is a Laptop with a Wireless internet Connection (Cheap now!) and a NextG (or 3G depending what country you are in) Cellphone, and you are sweet! The only problems I have had are calls when I am trying to catch a fish, or hoisting sails. Very inconvenient, but my Customers are getting used to saying, are you free to talk? Everyone dislikes loosing a fish when it is on the hook. Enjoy!

Thanks Kiwikat. I already sometimes think I'm sailing an office. We have your links and a few more besides. We do a lot of crisis management work, and we've found clients don't care where we are as long as they can talk to us right now. NextG makes working anywhere off the coast a breeze, and our team back at the office can send us work for approval at any time. Trouble is, I get really frustrated sitting in anchorages working while the wind is blowing beautifully!

Aloha and Welcome Aboard!
Hope you can keep the cruising and making a living thing work for you. That would be wonderful.
Kind Regards,

Thanks SkiprJohn - that's very kind. I'm working at it, but work is winning at present!

Thanks to all who welcomed me on board the Cruisers Forum. It's a very impressive site with huge amounts of stuff I've always wondered about just sitting there waiting to be absorbed. I'm sold!
