Introduction and a warm hello to all

Helo to the forum

Just joined today.

Me and the wife did 3 years of cruising 15 years ago before the kids (3) and want to do it again with them before they fly away.

So thought it would be good to join a active forum on the subject.

When we were last doing our adventures it was in a 33’ homebuilt GRP mono thing I never got finished much apart the bulkheads and installing the store bought stuff mast, motor, toilet, galley etc.

Now we are looking for something that can handle 2 adults and 3 kids. Mono or good multi in steel, aluminium or GRP (possibly something else). The budget is tight but can stretch for a gem. Also considering heavily damaged GRP, ALU or Steel hulls with all the goodies in as can fix them myself, just cant afford to build a new one with this budget. So on damaged boats or true gems for sale you come across, do let me know.

Welcome aboard, KuoPau!

From what you wrote in your intro, you must be a pretty handy guy, and one with a bit of patience. Good luck finding a boat to suit your needs.

KuoPau, welcome aboard. Too bad you are in Europe, I would have a good option for you on a 40 footer
It would be great to hear about your previous cruising experience. So many people put cruising off until the boat is done. I would enjoy seeing some posts about building as you go. Might inspire some to take off now, rather than letting the dream die before the boat leaves the dock.

Thank you both for the welcome.

Being a X Californian myself, actually would not mind continuing the cruise from the pacific coast.
Looking at boat prises I probably am going to end up buying the boat in the US anyway. Then working at some boatyard for 6-12 months before setting off. I’m only a flight away :) so tell me more on the 40’

Aloha KuoPau,
Welcome aboard! Good to have you here.
Kai Nui might have something for you. I just left Moss Landing about a month ago after sailing down from SF. Its really a great place to get some work done.
Kind regards,
JohnL
