Hello Everyone!
How I washed up here... I served for 8 years in the Royal Dutch
Navy and later in life I made a nice year long trip from the north of Kazakhstan to the southernmost tip of
India. I liked traveling so much that I wondered how I could travel the world for the longest time possible.
The answer was of course:"
BY SAIL!"
So I got myself a nice job when I came back, did a lot of
research, looked for a ship and bought a perfect one. It is a "
Trewes 1A"
steel S-hulled long keeler build in 1965. 27 feet long, 7 feet wide, 4,5 feet draught, 7 tonnes (including 4 tonnes ballast),
classic lines and overall a VERY robust and sound build.
Since this summer I am a 'live-aboard' to save
money for the trip and necessary refitting.
There are a lot of things that need to be done. The ship is in excellent shape but does needs a
refit for such a long trip. I need to do some courses as well in order to refresh old knowledge and acquire new. So With all that in mind I plan on leaving in 5 to 7 years from now for the longest possible time.
If there are any questions, please let me know.
With kind regards,
AUM
