Indiana born and raised!

Hello everyone. I'm Wilson from a small town in Northern Indiana. I'm the owner of a 1983 Catilina C-30. The boat is is from lake Michigan and is in pretty good shape, but needs some TLC.

That brings me to this forum. I'm looking for experienced people that can help me in the restoration of my Catilina. She is going to be a 5 year project. I'm prepared to dump my wallet into this boat for the next couple of years. Then my plan is to head south with her.

Does this forum have a DYI section? Right now I'm sanding and restoring the teak from to outside of the boat and I'm looking for some advice on what teak products are the best to use.

Re: Indiana born and raised!

Hi Awilson and welcome to the club.

If you look under "Forums" you'll find most of the subjects you're looking for under "Engineering & Systems". That's where we all go to ask our questions. There's another section called "Library" where people have been good enough to post some of the snarkier documents they've found.

Once you get more familiar with the forum you'll probably wind up doing what we all do: Use "Search" (third in from right on the green banner above) go to "Google Custom Search" and type in your project. Everything that's there will come up in no particular date order. Then we just start sifting through...

And when nothing answers your questions - just create a post and ask.

And of course, just like real life, some of the advise is great, some of it comes with a pretty bad smell when you're downwind of it. Buyer beware.

Have fun with your boat!
