I'm a New Fish, with Old Dreams

Hey everybody I'm new to the forum, I'm looking to find some advise to get started on sailing the ocean. The reality, lol I turn 20 in a month, and Im a dreamer described to the T. I have no experience in sailing and no money. The dream isn't to have my own boat or dine in a fancy yacht. It's to just sail to shores that are new to me and meet the world, all while letting the lady of the sea kick the crap out of me haha. I'm not entirely sure what the next step is, but I'm open to any suggestions. And curious if any of yall have been in my position

Hey genesaid, have you thought about crewing? When I was 19 I packed up and headed out to see the world. At first I hitchhiked and crewed on boats for free. Once I got a few miles under my belt I was paid to sail boats across the ocean, pretty darn cool. I sailed over 20,000 miles in my twenties. My best memories are of tropical breezes, dolphins playing at the bow, the first time I spotted the Southern Cross in the black sky. I have been aboard 2 sinking vessels, at least twice I thought I'd never see land again, and had my share of psycho crew. It is not all fun but I think you already know that. You are so on the right track to want to see the world, and it is waiting to be seen.
Go for it, and welcome to the forum.
Erika

PS how to get there? start sailing, ask around for crewing job, post a crew available here on our crew section.
