ICOM command mic II repair

I now have 2 command mics with audio problems. These mics connect to an ICOM M602 marine VHF radio. For the second time in 5 years, the command mic fails to provide audio. Radio control functions work OK from the command mic.

Can anyone recommend someone who can repair the HM-157 control mic II? ICOM no longer supports this mic, I cannot find on the internet a replacement source, the ICOM upgrade to a command mic HM195 is not compatible with the ICOM602 radio. I do not want to replace the whole M602 radio and new remote control mic, especially since the M605 latest radio is 2 inches wider than the old M602, and there is not enough width in my nav station panel to accommodate such a radio.

Suggestions?

Re: ICOM command mic II repair

Mr. McKay,

I am a skilled electronics technician, and would be glad to see what can be done. I am licensed by the FCC to install, maintain, repair, and operate aviation and maritime communications equipment. GROL + RADAR, GMDSS maintainer/operator, amateur radio Extra Class.

Re: ICOM command mic II repair

y two cents as I have the same problem. I believe it is the connectors that cause this problem. I can move the connector it seems to work for a bit and the fails again. I am thinking of removing the connector and splicing the leads and see what happens.
If you find a solution please share it here.
