So I decided on a whim that my bucket list should include circumnavigating the globe on a sailboat! I have this problem: I caught a sailing bug. I have at this point taken lessons (ASA) and scheduled for more - still as green as can be but I have ten years to plan, learn, practice and prepare for this. Let me run all this by y’all so you can tell me all you can...since I am over 30 I am now able to learn from others with some humility and accepting my own ignorance! So I am scheduled to have advanced lessons soon and will take every class
ASA offers over the next few years. I am a
school teacher and have time to get on the
water locally and eventually take some longer trips during the summers. I am planning to buy a 40’ or larger
boat as early as next year but I am going to take my time and find the unicorn. Once I have my
boat I am planning to
live aboard her for a few years while continuing to teach. After
living aboard and sailing out of
Texas for several years I will prepare and practice until I feel I am ready to
head out for around 4-5 years around the world. I’m so ignorant at this point but that’s the plan anyway...now y’all tell me what I’m doing wrong lol.
