HIP from Texas. I want to be a cruiser!

I just joined the forum but I hope to improve my sailing quickly over the next year and get out on the open water. I'm sure I'll be asking questions like crazy.

I've done mostly lake sailing with some jaunts into the Gulf of Mexico, but never out of sight of land. That needs to change. No navigation, heavy seas or onboard living knowledge at all, unless you count camping on the beach with a windsurfer next to me. I hope to learn and take some ASA courses this year in order to charter some family trips and eventually buy my own boat.

I'm looking forward to getting to know y'all.
