Hi There from Cape Town, South Africa

My name is Roland and I'm from Cape Town South Africa and love the ocean and reading about it. Unfortunately I don't have a boat anymore, so if you guys don't mind, I'll get my pleasure from reading of your escapades. I'm an avid fly fisher in both salt and freshwater and just love the water.
Thanks for having me
Cheers

Hi Roland,

Welcome. Too bad you are currently boatless but I can assure you from personal experience that you will probably survive and might even boat again someday. Only took me 30 years to get back into a boat.

Hi, Rols. Welcome to CF. I tried some saltwater fly fishing and enjoyed it immensely. Much different from the freshwater variety. Hope you enjoy your time here.

thanks a mil guys. I must admit I'll probably be more of a learner, than have too much input or advice to hand out but so far this site is tickling the right buttons and I'm in virtual sailing heaven. My wife and I started on catamarans, a Halcat first off, then we moved onto a Dart 18 and raced for several years untill we decided to start a family. The Dart was not going to be a family boat so we sold it reluctantly and bought a Mistral, a 23 foot keeler and we sailed firstly at Albert Falls dam in Natal, South Africa and then moved the boat to Midmar dam where we had years of fun. We then moved to Cape Town and could not find a trailer for the boat and had to sell......and then the story becomes quite familiar I think. We promised to put the money away and keep it for another yacht.....another beautiful daughter arrived and when we looked again the yacht mooring was still empty
Now we fish. And I am proud to say I go fishing with my wife and two teenage daughters.....and they kick my butt

Aloha Roland,
Many years ago I introduced my daughter to freshwater flyfishing. Great sport. Now all I have round here is saltwater so have to start with new gear.
Kind regards,
JohnL
