I've been reading forums for a while, just generally nerding myself in to sailing, but to get my questions answered, i had to sign up


and my question is this: i've heard of people who work as crew on skipper's boats, basically as transatlantic hitch-hiking. i'm wondering where i can find these types of opportunities and what kind of stuff i should read up on beforehand


if it helps, i'm looking to get to australia around february of next year

Welcome to the forum, Edward.

You're suggesting that you don't have experience to draw on. If that's the case, start there. Long range crewing will come after you, as the Navy says, "are qualified to stand watch."

no, absolutely, i don't have any experience, this is very true. (although i have gone sailing locally a couple years ago, and understand basics.) i'm thinking about looking around for a summer job aboard some vessel this year, but i kind of really want to get to australia, so the wish of good luck is much appreciated
