Welcome aboard da board,
What areas are you considering sailing? Lots of Local Knowledge available here from people who are located where you may want to go or have recently been there, just ask.

Aloha Riptide,
Welcome aboard! I've always wanted to try the Tenn Tom and points North of that. Of course, itd be a much easier trip coming down the current.
Kind regards,
JohnL

Hello and welcome! As a few of us here aren't in the U.S. - what is Tenn Tom? and what does your mast height have to do with it? Are there bridges you have to negotiate that make this a problem? Always love reading about new places and how people cope with the associated problems. Good luck.

It;s the way it works. You start out with a lot of good questions but as you go on you find a lot of answers but after you settle into it more questions come up after you get the answers. If it's new, that is the way it is. There really is a lot here already. For the rest post more questions.
