Hi from Western Washington

Hello,
I recently purchased my first sailboat, and I'm very excited to spend some quality time with it this summer. It wasn't until just a few months ago that I realized I could actually purchase my own boat, for some reason I thought they were far more expensive (well some still are).

I have big plans for this boat for the coming year and I'm hoping that some of the veteran sailors will be able to offer advice from their own experiences, thanks in advance!
cheers,
ashleigh

Congratulations on your new boat! Post some pics when you can - we love boat porn!

I also suspect you have some wonderful areas in which to sail!

From the Other Side

Welcome! I hear those 26's can be FAST. I expect you will have the time of your life with this new toy. Are you on Lake Washington or are you out in the Big water?
I have a slip neighbor on Pend Oreille with a 26 and he is really into racing, is that going to be your main pursuit?
Keep us posted on how the summer goes.

Yeah, I hear they're pretty quick as well, I know that this boat was raced a lot by its previous owner and I'd like to continue the racing this summer. I'm up in Bellingham and its big water for me, well really the bay is fairly protected and a lot of what I've done so far is around the San Juans, so its not THAT big.
I'll certainly keep people posted on my boating exploits, I love talking about my boat, perhaps that'll wear off eventually but for now its new and exciting. Good luck on the east side and your lake crossing, be sure to post how it goes!

Aloha Ashleigh,
San Juans are great boats. Hope you enjoy the water this summer. Has it warmed up a bit yet?
Kind regards,
JohnL

Hi Ashleigh,

Congrats on your boat - how exciting! I'd love to hear about your upcoming sailing experiences. We live in Seattle and usually spend a week or two every summer sailing the San Juan/Gulf islands. They really are spectacular. If you have any questions about sailing in this area, perhaps we can help.

Happy travels!

Hey Ashleigh,

I just bought a 27 Coronado down in Everett and am bringing it up to Bellingham this weekend. Sounds like we're in similar situations. I plan on doing a lot of exploring of the islands this summer. Maybe I'll see you out there. Congrats on your purchase!
