Hello everyone from
Vancouver,
I have a very limited experience, sailed once for a
race in Victoria last year and liked it a lot.
Now that i'm living right between coal harbour and false creek it became obvious that I need a
boat.
I saw a few adds on craigslist and fb that fits my
buying budget (>5000$) for a
cabin under 26ft, late 70s: US-25, O'Day 25, Santana 25.
I plan on getting the checklist online for the particular model and inspect it myself, really I have no contacts whatsoever yet with boaters... - is it a big red flag or doable if done with care and preparation ?
Second and it seems the more painful point, what to do once I buy the boat! I'm seeing a lot of
anchor boats on false creek but it seems you're only allowed for 14/30 days in summer time, and locals marina have 10 yr wait list. Apart from getting
buying a boat with a slip, with no car for a
trailer, what would be your options?
Do you know about any yatch club that would allow moorage/anchoring for a
small boat (<26ft) ?
Any advise here is really appreciated.
Thanks,
See you on the
water
Ludo
