Hi from Texas

New to sailing in general. Wife and I are interested in exploring a new sailing lifestyle in 24 months. Offshore experiences limited to a few extended fishing trips in a 32 foot fishing boat. Plan to read and follow along on this forum for a bit, hopefully meet some people and learn. Ideally plan to buy our sailing vessel sometime in 2019 and depart for somewhere summer 2020.

Re: Hi from Texas

Are you considering lake sailing or the Gulf? If you have sailing friends I would recommend you get as much sailing experience as you can before buying a boat. The Boat Club on Eagle Mountain has a very active racing fleet. Many of them are in need of crew.

We learned a lot from classes we took from the Fort Worth Power Squadron. Good people and very knowledgeable.

Cheers!

Re: Hi from Texas

Definitely wanting to travel the gulf and beyond. Experience I will pick up at a lake and the gulf. New to sailing and not totally sure the wife will be able to stomach off-shore in a rolling sailboat. I hope to get her out sometime this fall and see.
