Hi from St. Maarten

Hi all
I am new to this forum and wanted to properly introduce myself.
My name is Menachem Lev but everybody call my Mike (no one in the Caribbean can pronounce my good Jewish name Menachem)
I have been sailing all my life and during the past 3 years I am working as a captain on a charter boat (lagoon 440) in St. Maarten.
I am looking forward to gain knowledge from this very friendly forum as well as gladly sharing my experience with you all.

May the good winds always be with us
Mike

Welcome to the forum, Mike. We're neighbors, relatively speaking. Do you ever sail your guests down this way?

We will be back to Sint Maarten in the Fall. The island will become our permanent home this year - our boat will be in Captain Oliver's Marina in Oyster Pond.

We are based in Simpson Bay St. Maarten. Nevis is too far from SXM to be included in our weekley rout. Personally I wanted for quite a while to visit Navis. I'll do so most likely during next season, and then I'll give you a shout maybe we can get together for a beer.

You picked a good place to be based in. Oyster pond is a very good and protected spot. Good luck and send me a message when you get there

I did the weekly SXM, Saba, Statia, St. Kitts loop for 9 months and had no problems. Nevis's only a few miles from our favorite anchorage in St. Kitts.

The only problem we had was the scoot back to SXM in time for the Friday Jump up in Philipsburg. We sailed a lot at night but I was in bed shortly after midnight most nights.

The best things about leaving from Philipsburg is no bridge, and you're 12 miles closer to Saba and the other islands. The worst thing was the anchorage and surge but we spent the night at Bobby's Marina.

If you are single I can mention several places you can visit but will not do so if you are married. I do LOVE St. Marteen
