Hi from Israel

Hi guys, been lurking around here for a while.

Me and my wife are dreaming about leaving the dock and going round. Right now I am dreaming of a cat (as I said, me and my wife) but there is still lots of time to go so lots of time to change my mind over and over and over again.

I did a year of med cruising with 2 friends at the age of 24, going from Greece to Spain (wintering in Barcelona) and back to Israel with a greek 36 footer (appolo by dromor). Got the bug then and it never left.

After sailing penniless, I figured I would be happy to go sailing and get a cup of coffee from time to time, so I got to be an entrepreneur, struggling to create a web2.0 company, and always found my self on this forum when I needed to remind myself why I am doing this to myself (lol).

I found this forum to be fun and informative and I am happy to join. happy sailing to all.

Welcome to CF DannySt.

Israelis are probably my all time favorite people. They are so full of optimism and dedication despite all the “troubles”. Not to mention that Israeli women are amazingly beautiful….and tough!

In 1994 I brought the first big yacht into Ashkelon marina, while they were still dredging and before they had started putting in the pilings. But what a grand reception we had from the whole town.

Elat was more of a circus, but we enjoyed the diving in the Red Sea

Not exactly a cruising destination Ocean Girl as far as gunkholing with your boat, but the people, the historical sites and the timelessness of the land are inspiring. Definitely a place worth visiting

Ocean girl, thanks for the greetings, like Pelagic I would say Isreal is not a great place for cruisers, but a great place for visiting, if its on the way, stop by (ashkelon marina is nice, Tel aviv marina is great but very crowded,Jaffa marina is also nice but a bit dangerous in the enter - in case of swell, hertzelia is one big mall, and acre is a great historical marina, no anchoring points what so ever) if its not - come to israel with a plane and travel with a car.

Pelagic, I tend to agree with the view of israeli woman, and my wife is on top of that list - she is both beautiful and tough (and watching me write this message)

Yep, that is what I meant, to cruise to..and hop on land and see all the places I have read about . My friends just got back from sailing RTW and they raved about Israel which sealed my desire to see it.
Cheers,
Erika

I try to go when ever there are waves, that is about 80 days a year (more like 50 surfable). some days are better then others. you can find a few jams here and there.
