Hi from Brisbane

hi all,

not new to boating but an absolute newb to sailing until two weeks ago...now its my thing If there was ever anything I was born to do....this is it.

I'll be learning everything I can over the next 12 months before a self charter in the whitsundays (I've done 10 days there before, but it was on a powered cat).
Beyond that I'm planning a 4-5 month hiatus from work and shore life, to travel up through the east coast islands and beyond. much more planing and learning to do for this phase (plus I'm yet to purchase a suitable vessel)
lovin the knowledge and the community spirit that is already evident on this site.

cheers...Jas

Re: hi from Brisbane

Your in the right place for some great sailing but it's also dangerous waters. Make sure you talk to experienced folk, joining a cruising club is probably the best way. Ride all the types of boat you can, you'll have a better understanding that way of the sea and each boats limitations, and each skippers attitudes.

Re: Hi from Brisbane

thanks John....its certainly consuming all of my spare time at the moment in reading and research, but luckily I'm not looking for a cure...was actually just berating myself on Saturday for spending too much time reading through cruiser blogs and not enough time planning for my next sail
