Hi Everyone: Looking for Dream Boat
After spending 6 month constantly finding myself on this site I finally decided to register. Just graduated university with a Master Mariner degree , I have been hired by Shell and my schedule is 4 month working, 3 month vacation, which I plan to spend on my dream boat. A sturdy Blue water catamaran circa 40 feet, nice interior, lots of storage space, with good load capacity, speed is not of great importance, but comfort is, something that will last me around 10 years. Looking for something probably used but no older then 5 years and no charting history. Open to any suggestions, so far looked at Lagoon, Fountaine Pajot, Admiral, Broadblue, Antares, Privilege, Nautitech and Roberson and Caine. Please tell me now if any one these companies do not supply something for living aboard, Price range below 350,000.
Looking forward to many discussion

Re: Hi Everyone: Looking for Dream Boat
Welcome to CF. I have spent the last 10 years looking for the dream boat, however my dream keeps changing. What ever you do remember to not spend it all on the boat just in case you get that little pink slip from work one day.

Jaggerman,
Welcome to the forum. Where do you plan to keep the boat once you make the purchase? What part of the world do you plan to call home at least for a while?

Re: Hi Everyone: Looking for Dream Boat
I will be living in Ontario, Canada for one more year, then for the next couple of years after that the Netherlands will be my home, my parents own a house in each countries, and I have dual citizenship. I have not yet decided where I will live, I love the Netherlands with all my heart, but not enough to pay the incredible tax there, (52% after 55,000 euro)I will be looking for a different country as a tax harbor, where in the world I have not decided, but purely statistical, I wont actually live there. As for storing my cat while I am working I still have to find a solution, I cant imagine that after 3 month of cruising I will end up at same place I started every time. Its a tricky situation, and I am bit worried about leaving my boat unattended for 4 month in a foreign country.

Re: Hi Everyone: Looking for Dream Boat
You want the dream boat? Sorry. I'm the current owner, and she's not for sale.
Welcome to the forum anyway.

Re: Hi Everyone: Looking for Dream Boat
Jaggerman..great budget, sensible and will afford you a vast choice of Catamarans of all brands to choose from...are you looking for a new yacht or used? Re the Tax thing probably not a bad idea to look around the Caribbean as most islands here have zero (or close to it) tax and the used yachts are in the whole tax free..if you wish to tell me what you really want for your liveaboard i.e a/c , watermakers etc or rather go the simpler (and better route) ...whatever you choose to do make sure you have the yacht sruveyed prior to buying ..however good the deal may be unless of course she is new..and we can offer you a new liveaborard for pretty much your budget..
