Hi everyone, I am new here and lookin....

I am new here Hi everyone, I am trying to buy a big boat somewhere around 40' and I know the bigger boat the more it cost to keep it moored. I am looking for affordable mooring CT MA RI. I thought somebody might know a spot.

Welcome.

You'll have to excuse SS, who is a Brit. One of the MANY here on board who is in denial about the sun setting on the empire. Poor souls; they just don't yet realize the sun rises on the east coast of the UNITED STATES and sets over Hollywood on the west.

Oh these are just states from the original 13 colonies that tossed out the British oppressors.

CT = Connecticut
MA = Massachusetts
RI = Rhode Island

In an area called New England. Guess they were all homesick for the mother country since they named the local towns Greenwich, Chester, Bristol, Lyme, Falmouth, New Bedford and even New London. Then had to name a river the Thames (though they do pronounce it differently over here).

For moorings in New England you have a lot of options but affordable doesn't seem to be in the local vocabulary. In my search I found the best deal in Narragansett Bay which is huge and has lots of options. I found a private mooring for lease in Bristol RI that was a good deal but rather a long dinghy ride to town.

With boating down you might get lucky elsewhere. Just about every coastal town in CT has marinas and moorings. You might get lucky.

Well we won't hold your geographical limitations against you. After all I certainly couldn't tell Northumberland from Cornwall on a UK map.

But to say that the Bee Gees and the Beach Boys sound the same, oh sacrilege.

So many replies to my post!!! And so much help!! Ha ha, you guys are funny!! I have tried to be funny ones too.. her husband chased me 5 miles Yeah, New England is very expensive. What do you guys think about general anchorage? Just in case if people from England don't know what it is, its where you can anchor your vessel for free, but in more exposed area. I live now in Springfield Massachusetts I never had a boat before, it was beyond my dreams, but now I have an opportunity to get one.

I'm stuck for a snappy retort, SS, as I've been hove to sleeping and just awoke ... yawn.

Well, you're half right. Hollywood is the capital of So California, center of the universe.

Well I might say you're half right. SoCal and Hollywood are the center of Lala Land but I don't think those of us in the rest of the universe see that as significant beyond creating a huge market for silicone and botox.

You had me at silicone and botox. And speaking of, allow me to say that yes, Angelina Jolie has used botox, and no, those puppies are real.
