Hey Y'All

I'm new here. I've been a long time member of SSCA and Lats N Atts forums, mostly lurking. The SSCA seems to have much less traffic lately. So I thought I'd hang out here. There appears to be a lot of knowedgeable folks.

My wife and a I recently purchased a new-to-us boat and are planning on heading out cruising after hurricane season this fall. We've been boating for many years and I have a masters ticket, but we're newbie cruisers. We live in Columbia, SC and keep the boat in Beaufort (that's Bew Fort), SC

He he. You're probably right. I guess Bewfert is closer... However the "Bew" is the important part. Just don't call it Bowfert!

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Scott.

So, in SC it's bewfort/bewfert, and in NC it's bowfert?

Methinks someone's forebearers lacked a little immagination. They were unable to come up with discrete city and state names, and just kept reusing the same ones over & over.

You got it, Gord. Thanks for the welcome. Not sure how the towns got to be named, but it is a little suspicious, isn't it?

That's "bow" with a long O, not like "cow" or the bow of your boat.

Whether Bewfert or Bowfert, neither ends with a a fort or fart.
