Hey there everyone.

Very new to everything maritime pretty much despite living on water most of my life. im just now beginning to get into the lingo and understanding of sailing. im 49 yrs old and first was drawn to the idea of getting a sailboat as a live aboard for financial reasons. now the idea of actually sailing is even more appealing to me. i have already have an idea of what i want out of a boat but not sure what i type is best. i know i want a 30' and it to be a coastal/saltwater boat. i have looked into ASA schools near me even though they are fresh water they offer a a wide selection of course. i eventually want to sail the carribean and even sail to Hawaii where id like to live. all this sounds crazy im sure but so does spending all my time working to pay rent for an apartment and never having anything to show for it is more insane. the world is too beautiful to spend my life in a job and just being a consumer of goods.
any information and links to good reads that will prepare me for the boat life would be great.
have a great day
