Hervey Bay, Australia

Hi from sunny Queensland. Returning to sailing after a break of many years.
Recently purchased a Pearson 424, Equinox #106 which is a great old but reliable boat. Enjoying the information and views from this website.

Hello Hervey Bay.

I could not believe it when I sailed into Hervey Bay from New Caledonia. It seemed like the bay went on forever. There is a massive amount of water that you have to cross on Hervey Bay before you arrive in Bundaberg.

You have a great place to sail, and being able to tuck in behind Fraser Island is a bonus.

My dream is to put my anchor down once again behind Fraser Island in my catamaran Exit Only. And this time I will have my 70 pound Buegel anchor to deal with the tidal current. Those strong currents were one of the reasons I abandoned my CQR and moved to a Buegel in OZ.

G'Day mate,

Sunny Qld??? We're sheltering in the mouth of the Mary/Susan rivers awaiting the squalls, showers, rain and general crap f/c for tomorrow and on... but we love it here!

Welcome to the CF, and we'll keep an eye out for Equinox.

Cheers,

Jim and Ann s/v Insatiable II lying Riverheads, Qld, Oz

Hi Australis,

First, this is my very first post as a new member and I'm struggling a little with the site, so I hope you get this post.
Anyway, welcome to a fellow "Cruiser's Forum" newbie! - it looks like a fine site/community.
Hope you have good sailing in Hervey Bay!
The reason for this message is just to say that I'm hoping to visit my sister in HB perhaps January and was hoping to get some crewing in for a month or two. I thought I'd look-up a local sailing club and I'll certainly look forward to posting again to you when I'm over there - just to say Hi !
Hope you enjoy your retirement in HB :-)
Regards, Nanki
