Hello Sailors !

Hello to everyone,
Myself and hubby are looking to move out to Greece (as soon as house sells!) and hopefully live on a small boat. This boat will be capable of sailing us safely around the Ionian, that's us and four small dogs (yes slightly unhinged, I know)
What I would like to know from you experienced chaps is, what would you suggest would be a suitable boat to do this in. We are thinking around the 32-34ft size. We are looking at a 1977 Tradewind 33 at present, any thoughts on these, gratefully received.

Re: Hello Sailors !

It would seem that your dogs are am important part of your life. Perhaps it would be a good idea to contact the Greek embassy and find out what kind of paperwork is needed to allow them entry. That is assuming you would like to take them ashore when you get to where you are going.

Re: Hello Sailors !

Hello Sam,

Thanks for your suggestion, I will contact the Greek Embassy just to make sure, but we have all the dogs PET Passported to DEFRA standards (rabies, parvo, distemper, and others I can't pronounce!) so they should be ok to travel to Greece, but well worth checking again before we go.
Things have a habit of changing when it comes to red tape and animal transportation.
We lived out in Cyprus with them and brought them back to the UK a couple of years ago without any probs, just lots of expense, so fingers crossed.
We are going to travel them down to Greece by road this time, loads cheaper!

Well if your looking at older boats then take a look at the fin keeled Westerly Longbow's... lived aboard and cruised Andalucia/Ballerics for a few yrs on one... great sailing boat.... another worth considering is the ketch version... then your dogs can share the aft cabin and have easy access to the cockpit anytime they want....
Westerly Longbow - NOT FOR SALE, details for information only
Westerly Renown ketch archive details - Yachtsnet Ltd. online UK yacht brokers - yacht brokerage and boat sales
