Hello, Sailor ;)

Hi all,

I've been browsing this forum for a few days and thought it about time to join and contribute.

I'm an infrequent sailor and plan to become more frequent. I learned to sail back in the mid 70's with a mate who had a Mirror and occasionally went out on his father's Red Jacket trailer sailor.

About 4 years ago I bought an aging Hartley 16, with all the intentions of doing it up but soon learned that my fitness level was not up to the task. After a couple of trips out on Port Phillip Bay, I ended up having to selling it with great reluctance.

Now, a couple of years later, my wife and I are hoping to sell up the house, buy a 50 footer (something like a John Pugh), investing the balance and living aboard for a couple of years.

Yes, my fitness level is on the improve, and by the time we do this, we're both expecting to be a lot fitter.

We're doing all the homework at the moment, with the expectation that we'll finally be on the water in about 18 months. We're both looking forward to it.

The "no-live-aboard" policy around much of our waters is an issue I've come up against and have been grateful to read all the postings in here on the issue.

Anyway, that's me in brief. I look forward to reading and posting.

Cheers!
