Hi Pnvalen, the truth is that I received it in part as payment for a larger sailboat but I followed its history since I arrived in Chile, an interesting trip from Alaka via Australia to Chile, without motor, without electrical system, with small maneuvering winches and according to some photos that I found on board with the original sails.
I have not sailed it very much but I notice that the rudder is loaded with strong wind and it is difficult for it to turn over.

Hy Pulmay Yes I did have problem at the beginning to switch direction .you will first need speed and wait till the last second when the sail is almost flapping to make you turn .I also install the original stay sail which make it easier .

There are many things you can do if the tiller is hard.


One is a longer tiller ...


Another is to modify the sailplan. Balance the boat differently.


It is odd to have a boat that is hard on the tiller AND hard to tack. Boats hard on the tiller tend to be easy to tack. So clearly you want to work on your sailplan. Perhaps use the inner stay and the smaller jib - the staysail.

I always thought the Prairie 32 was a cool boat. Albeit a bit different. Thought about buying one many years ago.

I think it is the conception of the prairie cutter 32’ .From 3 people I talk to ,They have the same problem tacking .It is just a practice to get And yes we the staysail it goes easier and a clean hull

hello everyone, reviewing the design of the prairie 32 I find that the spaces from the stern to port are very poorly used, in mine there is a diesel tank and there is only access through narrow doors through the kitchen wall, I also think that if there were a cover per port port cotpic would have better access, there is someone who has made a better distribution of these spaces
