Hello from Vancouver Island, BC Canada

I used to sail a 30' C&C in the 1990's. The kids grew up, didn't want to leave their friends... the usual story, we sold the boat. Now I am nearing retirement and am soon going to be back sailing. I am hoping to find a Westsail 32 in the Fall, and finally fulfill my dream of going offshore. I am starting to brush up on all the things I have forgotten. lol
I am looking forward to learning a lot on this forum.

Welcome aboard Ed!

I've sailed the hell out of Nanaimo. One of the best sailing areas in the world.
Lot's of good advice on this forum, definitely worth the admission price.

Welcome Gaphumbala.

What a great location to hone some sailing skills with big tides, rocky bottom anchorages(?), beautiful scenery/wildlife and all seasons of weather.

I lived in BC for 16 years lots of good memories.

Are you on the east coast "Nanaimo"?

Any other boats you might look at or does it have to be a "Westsail 32"?

I am located in Nanaimo. The Westsail is a long time dream, but in the end, it depends on the $$$.

Nothing wrong with Westsail 32, I have sailed 1000 s of miles on a Hans Christian (a some what similar design I think) and loved it. My post was not intended to be a negative post about Westsails.

Being more open about the type/brand of boat to buy opens up more choices to get the best boat available for the $ you have.

Greetings from a Vancouverite who is currently in the Caribbean. Save your nickels and buy a small good boat and head down to Mexico, lots of fun down there. Welcome to the club. R

A Westsail huh? Too bad, my dockmate was a Westy 43. Just sold for 25K. Steal of a lifetime. We will be stopping by this summer- want a daysail up towards Tribute Bay? We can drop you off in points north, or in the Sunshines going south around Labor day.

Well, I really don't need a boat that big and I will be sailing solo, so a smaller boat is more practical for me. Thanks for the daysail offer, you never know.
