Hello from the wharf Mooloolaba Queensland Aust

Happy New Year everyone!

I have never joined a forum before, decided to do so as we are planning to sail from Mooloolaba to the Med in May/June 2008.

Have had very little sailing experience however have been on a huge learning curve since the launch of our Spirited 380 Catamaran "Minx" in May 8th.

Since taking Minx out on my own, "jumping into the deep end" has excellerated my learning curve big time!

Hope to keep in touch... Cheers to you all!

Welcome Silverback!! We lived in Mooloolaba for a while and LOVED IT!!! We are planning on doing that trip in the other direction at some point in our lives. We plan on getting the boat in the Med and then sailing it back here through the Bahamas etc..

Thank you Shadow, hey we may pass each other one day!
Glad you enjoyed Mooloolaba.
Did you cruise here in the past?
Would be interested in which boat you will choose.
We hope to make the Med by the end of 2008, who knows we may meet. JH

I wish we cruised in that area! It was great but the boating bug didn't bite until a few years back. We were there about 5 years ago!! Loved it and will always want to go back, especially in a boat.

The boat we are looking at depending on our budget at the time will be a Privilege Cat. If budget doesn't allow, then a real decent new mono. Either way, we want to be on the water as soon as possible!! If we do meet up by the end of 2008, then you will see me constantly laughing and giggling from my overly happy mind set that we actually are doing it and earlier then we thought!!

Cheers!!

Welcome aboard. I bought my boat in Mooloolaba, but unfortunately, I had to turn right out of the heads and head south (for Hobart), rather than left and Med-wards, so I am jealous. Good luck with your adventure; keep us posted.

G'day Jon & Sue, great choice of boat. I think there's 3 of them being built up here (Hervey Bay), so if your'e dropping in this way, let me know, and I'll pass it on - your'e sure to get some very interested visitors. (I'm sure you already do)

Cheers, Alan.

G-day Allan and thanks for the feedback.
Would be interesting to see subtil differences added or removed by private shipwrights in Harvy Bay.
Looking forward to sailing there we need all the pratice we can muster.
There sure is alot of interest and positive responce in the S-380.
The second production S-380 by Stallion Marine was launched in mid November (also moored Mooloolaba) we have enjoyed sailing and "sparing" the S-380's together in the bay, such speed, such fun!
You may be interested to know I have taken ours out twice on my own with no problems, the auto pilot helps - sure acceletrates the learning curve when your out there alone!
Cheers - Jon

Mooloolaba......OHHHHH the memories........I witnessed the most incredible lightening storm while moored in Mooloolaba in 1996.

A few days later, I was leaving the dock. When I jumped on-board. I caught my little toe around the S/S ring on my wheel and broke it quite badly (my toe, that is). A local lady on another boat saw what happened and rushed me to the hospital ER. OMG....what an experience that was. I certainly hope that they've updated that hospital since then.......<shutter>.....

Ouch! for your little toe back then Kanani.

A run of poor luck - lightening, broken toe and Hospitals, wonder which one you went to...

Actually the weather has been lousy for the past two weeks with the exception of two normal sunny days which surprised us and "sent us sailing".
