Hello from the UK - Help on the Forum Required, Please

Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and sort of new to forums. I was a liveaboard for 3 years between '99 and '02 on a Moody 47 - Leopard Star. I am now with family and would like to float an idea to the forum. The question is which part of the forum do you think is best for this. In a nut shell the idea is that my wife and I would like to take our 2 girls cruising for 6 months in 2012. We propose to offer our house / car etc (in a great village in the Cotswolds - UK) in exchange for a cruising yacht. So sort of a house swap but not. Our preference is for a multihull and we would like to be in the Caribbean between 2nd week March to end of Sept. Obviously the second half would be spent in Grenada / Tobago. I can go into detail with regards to our experience + more about the house / village. It just seems crazy buying a boat for a 6 month slot and equally crazy to have an empty house here. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, Leopard Star, but if you can find someone who owns an expensive catamaran and who would be willing to do the swap, he / she would more than likely not be willing to let you cruise it in the Caribbean after about the first of June, depending on his / her insurance policy. Most insurance companies consider June 1 the beginning of hurricane season, and coverage will not be in force if the vessel the policy is written on is inside the hurricane box (about 11.5* N. latitude to about 35* N. latitude after the date the policy defines as the beginning of hurricane season.

Typically, cruisers head north up the US east coast at that time of year, both for that reason and to find cooler climes. If you could see yourselves doing likewise, it could be a great adventure.

Good luck in your search.
